"You have terrible navigational skills," Raziel pointed out as they walked through the desert, "You said to me, 'only two weeks if we follow the river north,' and as far as I can tell, this is not north, nor has it been two weeks. In fact, I believe we've been heading west this entire time." He could hear the river just fine, and he could faintly smell a sea ahead of them. It had been more than a month, by Raziel's reckoning.

Asmodeus sighed and stopped walking, watching as his blind companion paused and faced him. "Yes, well, you're blind. What do you know for directions? Though you're correct. We aren't heading to Babylon. We're headed to a new kingdom. David has died, and left his kingdom to a new, young man. He will need all the help he can get to make the city good for him. He's a man of science and of little heart, not unlike you, angel." He picked under his nails as he leaned against his walking stick.

"When were you planning on telling me your new plans, Asmodey?" Raziel was peeved, and he shifted his weight, tapping his long claws on his elbow, arms crossed. "When we got there? I do not appreciate deception, even when it's simply omission of the facts." He furrowed his brow and waited impatiently for an answer.

"Precisely when you desired to know!" Asmodey laughed. "Come along, young one. We'll both find fine hospitality there. It's only an hour's walk now, not much you can say to that, my friend." The redhead started walking once more, leading them down the well-walked path in the sand.

"Oh, there's plenty I could say on the matter," Raziel assured in a bitter tone, as he continued on into Solomon's kingdom.
